Eric's view...
Waterbom might be Bali's number one tourist attraction. It's beautiful, clean, safe and full of high tech slides which can be a surprise to some tourists who might have formed a different view based on poor stereotypes and subconscious bias. Frankly it leaves Australian water parks for dead in pretty much every way.
We were lucky to visit on what seemed to be a fairly quiet day. The longest wait we had for any slide was about 15 minutes, but mostly wait times were between zero and 5 minutes which meant plenty of exercise climbing stairs between sliding.
They have an excellent cashless system for buying food and other things in the park. You just pre load a wristband with credit and off you go. Unused credit gets refunded at the end of the day. Oh and the food is a fair bit better than western amusement parks. Way cheaper for starters, more variety and the claim that they have Bali's best chips might even be accurate.
The lazy river was particularly impressive because of the tropical vegetation growing alongside and overhead. You could almost imagine you were in a real jungle in places. It helps to have an army of staff ready to fish leaves and other debris out, but it makes the experience much better than most other parks that rely more on concrete for decoration.
Elise didn't do much sliding, mainly laps of the lazy river. Sam and I tried just about everything, including Sam's first time on drop slides - it helped that the waiting time was zero, less time for anxiety to build!
Was a great day out, highly recommended!
Elises view...
This post totally shows my age! Waterbom - Asia’s best waterpark. Amazing! Not too crowded and with all the slides one would expect. Samuel and Eric went on slides and I did the lazy river until Samuel convinced me to go on a couple of slides too (in those floaty devices). Sheer drops and twirls in the dark. Not my cup of tea - too hot, humid and dark creating disorienting sensations - although I suppose that is the point?
The park was scrupulously clean and smart. There were a bevy of staff to help with your every move, from lifeguards, to gardeners, cleaning, cooking and wait staff, spa attendants, photographers, ice cream stall people (2 prepared each ice cream) and people fishing flotsam and jetsam out of the pool. There was even a toilet attendant who checked the stalls between each visit, mopped the floor and showed you to a free stall if needed. As a result, the grounds were so clean, lush with manicured vegetation, the pool stairs were swept constantly and there was someone to take your shoes and advise you how to use the lockers.
I would rate the park very highly.
