Heading back across the Rockies to Denver we were racing predicted storms that were expected to dump a massive load of snow all over the Colorado Rockies and Denver in the evening. It certainly didn't look like storming when we stopped at the famous ski resort of Vail to take a look around just before lunch. The sky was clear and the air still. The town was picture perfect and it was easy to see why it's such a famous ski location.
Moving on the weather was still perfect but the huge expanse of snow visible as we crossed the high points on Interstate 70 hinted what was possible.
Things were still fine as we cruised into Denver wondering just how bad the incoming weather could be...
