I’m
looking forward to exploring the natural beauty in the centre of the USA. Our next few weeks will be a road trip round mid-west USA.
Starting from Denver, our
drive north soon took us to Cheyenne, the capital city of Wyoming, the least populous
state of the USA. We started in the state museum checking out the locally
focused exhibits.

This was good for me as I do not know enough about the USA. The focus on the cowboy aspect of life in Wyoming’s history was very clear. It is a whole different culture to our previous experience of the USA in Florida.
I also learned that Wyoming was the first state in the US to give women the vote. And that it is okay to show an antique wedding dress in the same show case as a gun used in a local murder.
Samuel and Eric checked out a large train in a children's park.

Cheyenne also has a surprisingly pretty botanic gardens. The children’s garden was especially good, it was extensive and had heaps of flowers and edible plants.

Our travel from Cheyenne to Hot Springs took us across the plains. It was large and open, a bit more undulating than I expected though, I thought the praries were all completely flat. The grasses were yellowing with the autumn, I mean fall, and hay making was happening so it reminded me a bit of driving through the farms at home. I wouldn’t describe much as being beautiful yet but there is still so much more to come.....
