Therme Erding near Munich brands itself as the worlds largest thermal spa. And it's huge - basically like a self contained town with a hotel, shops, restaurants as well as the many watery attractions. Think thermal spa and you normally think relaxation but there is a lot more you can do in addition to lying around soaking in hot water and sitting in saunas. In particular Samuel was most interested in the 27 water slides, which together with whirlpools, a wave pool and a lazy river meant plenty of more active entertainment was available.
The water slides were as good as advertised. In particular there was one super long (360 meter) slide that Samuel and Eric went down quite a few times (even Elise had a go). There were banks of both indoor and outdoor slides for the very young right up to the "X-treme" level.
While Eric and Samuel slid, Elise enjoyed the heated pools, doing aqua aerobics and getting a free facial (Eric also tried out some of the special facial mud). Then after lunch there was more sliding and a lot of play in the huge wave pool (surprisingly the website claimed the waves were "gentle" but they were actually quite big and lots of fun).
Therme Erding is an amazing place to play. We can thoroughly recommend a visit if you're in Munich.

Everything is larger than life at Therme Erding - 10,000 lockers and banks of washbasins and hairdryers to neaten up after the fun. |
