Having spent an interesting day in Lednice, before heading to Prague the next day we made a flying morning visit to its sister town of Valtice which also forms part of the same UNESCO World Heritage area. Although the Palace at Lednice is the more impressive, Valtice does have the advantage of hosting the Czech National Wine Centre where we made a first stop, purchasing two bottles of good wine at a price that would barely get you a cleanskin in Australia.
Next stop was a circuit of the Palace and gardens. The Palace had a bit of restoration work in progress though the building was still quite impressive chiefly due to it's size. The garden and grounds were less formal and smaller than in Lednice though still worth a wander.
After a circuit of the gardens we took a look at the centre of town. The local church was so large it was almost worthy of cathedral status. We had a peek inside and just off the town square we found a great cake shop which sorted us out for morning tea before we headed off to Prague.
