After yesterdays fine afternoon, the rain returned overnight which encouraged us to pack the tents up very early in the morning. The early start had one big advantage - less oncoming traffic on the one lane road up the west side of Mull (there are passing bays every few hundred meters). The rain swollen streams provided us with some nice waterfall photo stops.

Eventually we arrived at Calgary beach. Apparently the Canadian town is named after this location. See if you can spot the similarity... (answer... both can be freezing cold).
Sam was excited arriving at Tobermory as this was the location where one of his children's books was set (it includes cats of course). We had brunch at a nice cafe followed by a quick look at the town museum.
Just outside Tobermory we found Glengorm Castle perched on a hill above the seashore. Even though it was still showery we went on a walk through the fields, past an old stone circle and down to the coastline to the ruins of an old fort on a rocky knoll just above the water. It was beautiful but very bleak.
By now we were hungry again. Thankfully we found a cheesemakers with a café - hot soup and a cheeseboard later we were fortified for a short drive to Salen (via another waterfall) where we stayed at a hostel on a farm.
