This was one of those London tourist days where we just hopped on the tube and visited various places, deciding our itinerary as we went. Despite being grey and overcast, it was also a busy day being smack bang in the middle of school holidays which meant crowds!
After an early start, the first stop was Greenwich via the Docklands Light Rail (which Sam found very interesting). We saw the Cutty Sark (from the outside), and then walked past some of the fine buildings up the hill to the famous observatory.
On the hill, large crowds of students and tourists were already waiting for the observatory to open so we decided we would be happy seeing things from the outside.
Next stop was Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Both sights were covered with so much scaffolding that it wasn't even worth a photo so we quickly headed up through Green Park to our next destination, Buckingham Palace for the changing of the Guard. It was fairly crowded...
After lunch in the park it was off to St Pauls for a tour of the exterior (we didn't feel like paying the exorbitant entry fee). By now it was getting cold with some scattered showers rolling in so after a short freezing walk along the bank of the Thames we decided it was time to go home.
