Lima to Cuzco must be one of the busiest air routes in South America. Five airlines fly the route with about 50 direct flights per day.
So do you think I might be able to book a flight?
Nope.
Firstly Viva Air - a classic low cost carrier. Of 108 TripAdvisor reviews, 89 rated Terrible with headings like "Worst of the worst", "Pile of rubbish", "Joke" and the ultimate putdown... "Worse than Ryanair".
And how about this tidbit from TripAdvisor... "A note of interest is that the airline commenced service in 2012 and is the result of the founder's Stanford University degree project.".
Actually that makes me feel a bit inadequate - even if the service is hapless, setting up an airline as a University project is pretty impressive.
next is Peruvian - another low cost carrier. The first two reviewers complained that Peruvian took their money and booking for a route that no longer existed.
okay
Star Peru then -
"DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE", "The worst airline ever", "Would rate it NEGATIVE 100 if I could".
So onto the better carriers...
Avianca - I'd be happy to book with them except that their website won't process our bookings. I've only tried 6 times over two months on two different computers.
LATAM it is then. Of course they are twice as expensive even than Avianca (easy to see why when you look at the competition). Except that the last LATAM Booking I tried to make wouldn't accept my payment because the system was down.
Oh well the bus only costs $15. Pity it takes 21 hours.
